From Rimbey RCMP:

Yesterday morning (Dec.13th), Rimbey RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision which resulted in an on-scene fatality.  The RCMP can now confirm that yesterday afternoon, a second occupant in one of the vehicles succumbed to his injuries and passed away in the hospital.

The 24-year-old female driver of the westbound truck remains in hospital with serious injuries.

The 41-year-old male driver of the northbound truck has been released from hospital.  Both male passengers of the northbound truck; a 34-year-old from Rocky Mountain House and a 36-year-old living in Rocky Mountain House are deceased.

“The RCMP offers sincere condolences to the family and friends of all the people involved in this collision” says Sergeant Kurtis Pillipow of the Rimbey RCMP Detachment.  “We know that it is tragic any time to lose a loved one, or have a loved one injured – but this time of year is especially difficult and we offer our support to all.”

The cause of this collision remains under investigation and there is no determination at this time in relation to whether charges are pending

From Rimbey RCMP - At 6:46 a.m. December 13th, Rimbey RCMP responded to a serious two vehicle collision on Highway 22 at Highway 53.  

EMS and Fire attended the collision scene with Rimbey RCMP.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a truck travelling westbound on Highway 53 collided with a northbound truck on Highway 22.  

The lone female driver of the truck travelling westbound has been taken to an area hospital. 

One of the occupants of the truck travelling northbound, an adult male was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The other two occupants of that truck have also been taken to hospital.

Traffic was delayed while an RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene.  The Collision Analyst will conduct an investigation into the cause of this collision.  The road has now been opened for travel.

This collision is in its preliminary stage of investigation and further information is not available at this time.


2 STARS Air Ambulances landed at the Rocky Mountain House hospital for patients involved in that crash.

STAR 1 transported a 36 year old male patient in critical, life threatening condition to the Foothills hospital in Calgary.
 
STAR 3 transported a 24 year old female patient in serious but stable condition to the U of A hospital in Edmonton.
