Blackfalds officially launched their new all wheels park, to kick-off to Blackfalds Days.

The Optimist All Wheels Park Grand Opening took place Friday night at 5:30 p.m. and featured pro skateboard and scooter demonstrations along with a BBQ.

President of the Optimist Club in Blackfalds Theresa Franko said there was a lot excitement behind the official opening.

“So excited about it because we have a five-year plan and getting it done three years, was fantastic.”

Youth Night Out at the Abbey Centre also took place Friday night and included bumper balls, inflatables and an eating contest.

Celebrating Canada’s 150 will be this year’s theme, something Communications Officer for the Town of Blackfalds, Cale Frombach said, is something they are excited about.

“For Blackfalds Days, it just seemed like a good fit to celebrate our pride as Canadians, the patriotism we all feel and the chance to live and grow in this nation.”

The three-day event will also include a car show, a community market and a fireworks show on Saturday night at Viewing All Star Park at around dusk.
