A five-goal third period helped the Blackfalds Wranglers defeat the Mountainview Colts 6-2 on Tuesday night.

They came from forwards Braden Olsen, Braidon Westin, Braden Bystrom, Landon Siegle and defenceman Jacob Ten Hove.

Siegle finished with a two goals and an assist. Defenceman Loclyn Kabatoff also had a multi-point night, recording two helpers.

Despite the score, Wranglers head coach Sean Neumeier said his team needs to improve how it starts games.

"It wasn't our best, that's for sure. Our first two periods were butt-ugly. We did what he had to do to win tonight," Neumeier said.

Forward Colton Anderson opened scoring midway through the first period for the Colts, scoring on a two-man advantage.

Wranglers forward Landon Siegle scored his second goal of the game in the third period on this shot from the slot.

Landon Siegle tied the game late in the frame, burying a puck that laid at the doorstep of the Colts net after goaltender Ethan Woodward made the initial save.

There was no score in the second period.

Neumeier said they were lucky not to be down three or four goals.

"That's not being dramatic. That's an honest assessment," he said, crediting goaltender Rylan Bardick for keeping Blackfalds in the game.

Bardick finished with 32 saves on 34 shots.

Forward Alan Klinck scored the Colts' second goal in the third period.

The Wranglers' record improves to 5-1, good for second place in the HJHL North. They've played four of those games on the road.

"We've gutted out a lot of wins. We've had a really tough schedule," Neumeier said.

On Sunday, they host the division-leading Airdrie Thunder at 3:30 p.m.
