Blackfalds Wranglers continue their hot start to the season and are now 6-1, after Sunday’s (Oct. 22) 4-3 overtime win against the Airdrie Techmation Thunder.

Landon Siegle was the overtime hero, something head coach Sean Neumeier has come to expect.

“He’s been good for us since he’s got here. Those guys have a knack for scoring big goals and if you have a power play you have to put him out there and see if he can do it again and he did it again.”

Wranglers were up 3-2 with under a minute left in the third, before the Thunder pulled their goalie and were able to tie it up.

Despite giving up the point, Neumeier said he still liked what he saw from the entire team and understands if you want to be the best you have to beat the best.

“Like I told the guys, if we wanted to end up getting first, we have to beat this team to do that. We gave them a point, but we got the extra point so we are pretty happy about that.”

Wranglers travel to Stettler on Tuesday for a game against the Lightning.
