As the Games continue, the athletes seem to be enjoying themselves.

Tyis Yellowhorn plays basketball for Siksika Nation near Calgary.

“It's a pretty fun tournament right now. There are a couple of good teams. It's a pretty good experience playing against all the other teams from different countries,” Yellowhorn said.

“Panama, New Zealand, we played the (New Zealand) women's team yesterday, which was a pretty funny game ... They're pretty physical, not going to lie. A couple of us got bodied a little bit yesterday.”

Maskwacis' own Sean Lee also plays basketball. Partaking in these games has been special.

“Because it's awesome. You get to represent where you're from. You get to have fun. You get to see other Indigenous people.”

Lee adds that an event like this one helps people take pride in their community.

“I can feel it. I can feel a good energy when things like this happen here.”

Yesterday's activities also included a rodeo. Soccer and basketball tournaments continue today, along with a conference on reconciliation and decolonizing.

Other events today include a golf tournament at Paul Band and an Indian Relay.

The WIN games conclude on Sunday.
