Red Deer Rebels prospects will have the chance this weekend to prove they’ve got what it takes to play in the WHL.

The team is holding their prospect camp from Friday until Sunday at the Penhold Multiplex, where 27 players will be attending.

Ethan Rowland, Rebels first round draft pick at this year’s WHL Bantam Draft, said he’s excited to get out there.

“I think I’ll learn where I have to be to make the team in a few years, know what my competition is and get to know some of my future teammates, hopefully.”

Rowland said he’s not the type to be nervous and is concentrated on proving himself.

“It means everything. It’s been a dream of mine to play in the WHL and I’m one step closer now, so I have to keep going and just trust the process.”

Camp ice times run Friday from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Saturday from 3:45-5:45 p.m.  and Sunday from 9:00-11:00 a.m.

The camp is open to the public.
