Red Deer College hosted their Athletics Awards last night.

Jordanna Cota was named the 2017 Red Deer Bottling Female Athlete of the Year, after earning an ACAC Silver Medal for Cross Country, and helping her team capture Gold, as well as leading them to a National Silver Medal.

Cota says she's proud of what she's accomplished and can't wait for nationals next year.

"I’m hoping to medal. That would probably be the highlight of my college career. Being a part of these teams has been great, but that would top it off."

Regan Fathers was named Red Deer Bottling Male Athlete of the year for 2017, after leading the Kings volleyball team to their 13th National Gold Medal.

Fathers will be heading to the University of Calgary next year and says his memories here have been special.

"RDC changed me mostly as an individual. The coaches are my friends now. The program means more than anything to me, and I'm certainly going to miss this place I called home."

Lacombe's Marla Sherrer was named the Most Valuable Player for RDC Curling Teams.
