Lacombe Rams are 1-0 to the start the high school football season, after crushing the Notre Dame Cougars 42-17 last night in their home opener at ME Global Athletic Park.

Senior quarterback John Ericson had huge game, throwing for three touchdowns and 118 yards.

Despite his personal success, he was quick to give credit to his teammates.

“I felt good, but I have total faith in my offensive line and my receivers were playing amazing. All I had to do was put the ball where it needed to be. They made my job really easy.”

39 of the 42 points were scored in the second half; something Ericson said was really special.

“What I really liked was how we came together in the second half and how we were able to run the ball and show a variety of ways our offence could attack.”

Ericson said he’s hoping last night’s game was a sign of things to come.

“I’m really excited for this year. We have some very talented dudes that can really ball it out. I’m really looking forward to it because like I said, they make my job easy.”

Rams are back at it a week from today, when they travel to Red Deer for a date with the Hunting Hills Lightning.

Hunting Hills hosts Lindsay Thurber tonight in their home opener.
