The Medicine Hat Mohawks beat the Lacombe Rams 44-0 in preseason high school football action at MEGlobal Athletic Park on Saturday afternoon.

“It’s not unexpected. I knew that Medicine Hat was going to be strong and I think we showed where we have some glaring weaknesses, which is certainly with our line play. We just have inexperienced guys that have to learn to grow into that position,” said Rams head coach Brian Ross.

Before LCHS starts league play, it will have two more exhibition games.

On Sept. 7, the Rams play at home against Holy Rosary from Lloydminster, and then visit Bonnyville on Sept. 14.

“I purposely wanted to have stiff competition because we’re going to face that from the three Red Deer teams,” Ross said.

“I would rather take my lumps right now and learn from it and see what these kids are made of. How do they bounce back from this, what are they going to be like on Monday, and see if we can right that ship.”
