It will be another Allan Cup appearance for the Lacombe Generals.

They beat the Stony Plain Eagles 6-1 last night, winning the provincial championship in five games.

After one period, Lacombe fell behind 1-0 but scored four goals in the second.

“To their credit, they came out guns blazing and so they should. They had their backs against the wall but over the course of the 60 minutes, we were just able to show our relentless effort and win the game,” said defenceman Ian Barteaux, who scored two goals in the third.

Lacombe outshot Stony Plain 36-27.

With provincials out of the way, the Generals will now turn their attention to the 2018 Allan Cup.

The national championship for senior AAA men's hockey will start April 9 in Rosetown, Sask.
