After Friday’s 7-4 home loss, the Lacombe Generals found a way to respond with a 8-3 win on Saturday against the Stony Plain Eagles, tying up their series at two games a piece.

Neither team has yet to win a game on home ice and head coach Curtis said in Friday’s night game, inconsistency seemed to be the biggest issue.

“You’re looking for the effort level to be there, but at the end of the day Fridays are tough sometimes, it’s a long work week and a working man’s league,” said Austring.

“I just thought that some of our guys were a half-step behind out there, and when you’re a half-step behind and you’re chasing the game. It’s tough.”

With the winner moving onto the Allan Cup, emotions are running high for both teams and Austring said it’s important to stay focused on what needs to get done.

“I like the passion, the desire to win and the competitiveness. You can wear your heart on your sleeve, but at the end of the day you have to focus and put it to good use,” said Austring.

“If you’re not willing to do that, then it’s not very useful.”

A huge reason for the win on Saturday, was the play of forward Myles Bell.

Bell scored three times for the hat trick and added an assist and now has six points (three goals, three assists) over four games.

Gens look to get their first lead of the series at home next Friday.

Game time is 8 p.m.
