With the summer ending, and just over a month to go before the start of the Allan Cup Hockey West League, the Lacombe Generals roster is shaping up nicely.

With last year’s top scorers Brandon Magee and Kyle Sheen off to university, General Manager Jeff McInnis said the team has found the right replacements.

“A lot of people like to talk about Kyle Bailey. He’s a big addition, because he’s such a character guy, a skilled guy, a hardworking guy and a leader. So Kyle Bailey is a big add up front.”

“Cody Cartier is a big add up front. He’s a real fit young man, who played professionally in the British Elite League last year. He’s a Sylvan Lake boy that we know and will be a great player for us.”

Bailey played three years with the Generals prior to last year where he put up 59 points in 56 games. Cartier spent one year with the Innisfail Eagles back in the 2012-13 season where he posted 10 points in 10 games.

Something McInnis said has made his job a little easier this off season is the return of all his defensemen.

“We’ve never had all of our defensemen return before. This is the first year we’ve ever had that. I found that our blue line was the strength of our team last year; we had a great blue line. To have them all back is pretty special.”

On top of having everyone back on the blue line, defenseman Nathan Deck will make his return to the team after being an important piece to their 2015-2016 Allan Cup championship.

Deck played in five games, registering four points.
