The Lacombe Generals are headed to the senior AAA provincial championship after sweeping Fort Saskatchewan.

They beat the Chiefs 2-1 in Fort Saskatchewan on Sunday.

Defenceman Ian Barteaux scored two goals in Game 3 in Lacombe the day before, a 5-2 victory. It turned out to be the widest margin of victory all series long.

“They’ve definitely given us a run for our money,” Barteaux said.

“It’s actually really fun hockey. It’s not always the most fun when the score is out of hand. It’s easy but it definitely makes it for a boring game. The series has actually been a lot of fun because they’ve been keeping it close with us and making a game of it every time.”

The Generals will play the winner of Innisfail and Stony Plain.
