Lacombe Dodgers are now 5-1 on the season after beating the Airdrie Brewers 9-5 and 16-3 in a double header on Saturday.

Player-Manager Andre Touchette said the team struggled on defense, but made up for it with great hitting.

“It's kind of been this way the whole season. When our defence hasn’t been where it needs to be, batting has kind of kept us in it and that’s what happened.”

Touchette said the pitching was pretty solid, especially with the play on the defensive side of the game.

“They did enough for what they had to do, but I mean they would probably look back at it and say they probably would like to have a little bit of a better outing. But, like I said, our defense didn’t do anything to really help them.”

Overall, Touchette said they were big wins and they’ll take them.

“Yeah we got it, it wasn’t the prettiest, but we did enough to get the win again.”

Dodgers are back at it on Wednesday when they host the Innisfail Trappers. Game time is 7 p.m.
