After hearing Maskwacis being named as a top 10 Finalist in the Kraft Hockeyville’s arena upgrade contest last week, people in Didsbury share the same excitement.

Didsbury was also named a finalist and is in the running for $100,000 to put towards arena upgrades and the chance to host an NHL pre-season game.

Manger of Community Services for the town of Didsbury Nicole Aasen said it’s a proud moment for the town.

"It would mean alot for the arena to obviously be able to do the upgrades that we need to keep it operational in the future, but also, it would mean so much to our community to be able to host an event like Hockeyville," said Aasen.

Aased added that Didsbury is such a great hockey town and said the town is thrilled when they heard the news of being named a finalist.

"It was mayham here in Didsbury, people were so excited and that excitement just continues to grow every single day," said Aasen.

Canadians can vote for their favourite community on the Hockeyville website up until 11:59 p.m. Eastern time Monday night.
