After doubts of whether or not they would be able to field a team this year, your Central Alberta Buccaneers managed to finish the season in the 3rd place, after losing to the Calgary Gators 40-8 in the AFL semi-final game on Saturday.

Offensive Lineman Vince Roth says they weren't even certain fi they would have enough guys to field a team this year, so it's pretty impressive how far they made it.

“As a whole I’m pleased with it. I mean we finished with a 6-2 regular season record, and those loses came from Fort. McMurray and the Gators, which are the two teams that are in the championship game. I guess our spot in the standings in 3rd is pretty accurate as to where we finished in the league.”

Roth was named to the All Star team, something he says is quite an honor, as it's the other teams from the league that pick the Buc's all stars.

“Each team basically sends a list of their started to the league executives, which consists of all the team Presidents. And then you vote, based on that list you pick players that you think are deserving from opposing teams, so you can’t vote for players on your own team. So basically those selections are a pretty good honor, they come from your competition, so it’s a pretty good pat on the back.”

The All Star game will be down in St. Albert on the September 23rd weekend.
