It’s a busy weekend for Red Deer College athletes, as the cross-country running and soccer teams kick off the 2017-2018 ACAC season on the road.

Fifth-year cross-county runner Jordanna Cota and her team head to Edmonton to face Concordia University.

In what is her final season, Cota said she’s just going to enjoy it.

“This is my last year, so I really want to spend a lot of time with my teammates, just be present at practice and races and just really soak it all in.”

Known as one of the best cross-country runners in the province and with the team they have, Cota said expectations are high.

“We’re all very close and everyone is cheering each other on and holding everyone accountable.  I think it’s really made our team that much stronger this year, individually and as a whole.”

Kings and Queens soccer teams head to Lethbridge for a date with the Kodiaks on Saturday before heading to Medicine Hat on Sunday to face the Rattlers.
