On Nov. 9, 2021 at approximately 10:16 p.m., Breton RCMP with the assistance of Thorsby RCMP and Emergency Medical Services, responded to a serious two vehicle collision on Highway 22 approximately one kilometre south of the intersection of Highway 616 in Brazeau County.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a car was travelling northbound on Highway 22 when it crossed into the southbound lane and struck a southbound SUV.

The driver of the car, a 42-year-old female from Rimbey was pronounced deceased on scene.

The driver of the SUV, a 55-year-old female from Alder Flats was transported by STARS air ambulance to a local area hospital with serious injuries.

Traffic was re-routed for a period of time while the RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene.

Breton RCMP with the assistance of the RCMP Collision Analyst continue to investigate the cause of the collision.

No further updates are anticipated and the name of the deceased will not be released.
