RDCRS Esports team win national tournament

The Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools (RDCRS) St. Patrick’s Community School Celtics Esports Team Green won the U-15 title at the Esports Canada EDU 2024 Spring Rocket League Tournament.

The tournament brought 30 teams together in two age categories from across the country to compete.

The Celtics Team Green, one of two teams representing St. Patrick’s in the U-15 category, demonstrated skill and resilience, overcoming a challenging start to the tournament to triumph in the finals.

Team Green opened the tournament with a tough loss. Trailing 4-0 in their opening game, they rallied to narrow the gap, before ultimately losing 4-3.

However, their persistence paid off as they won their next two matches, advancing as the top team in their pool.

Both Celtic teams were in the quarterfinals, with Team Green coming out victorious over Team Purple.

Team Green took an overtime win against the LJC Grizzlys from École Secondaire Louis-Jacques-Casault from Montmagny, Quebec in the semifinal.

In the finals, the Celtics faced the HFW Cardinals Red team from Holy Family Catholic School in Wallaceburg, Ontario, finishing the tournament with a 7-2 victory in the final match.

Celtics Team Green showed incredible determination and tactical excellence, and even though it was tough to see them face Celtics Purple early on, both teams have done St. Patrick's proud," Michael Saretzky, Celtics Esports Head Coach said.
