The Government of Alberta has officially announced the launch of the new COVID-19 vaccination QR code app. The app is now available for businesses to download through Apple or Google.

“Businesses and organizations can immediately use they free app at Alberta COVID Records verifier to quickly and easily check the authenticity of a vaccine record. Albertans can get their enhanced vaccine record with a QR code online at Alberta.ca/COVIDrecords,” said Kenney.

In order to get your enhanced COVID-19 record, you will only need your Alberta Healthcare Number. The app does not store any information for privacy purposes. Albertans will have a month to download the enhanced app and their records.

“We’re asking everyone to get their new record over the next month and then starting Monday, November 15th, the new record with the QR code will be the single acceptable proof of vaccination here in Alberta,” said Health Minister Jason Copping.

The code can be printed and used and if you do not have a phone you can recieve a printed version of the code from Alberta Registries.

Copping encouraged Albertans to continue to work towards lowering the number of COVID-19 cases in hospital in order to eliminate pressure on our hospitals. Starting on October 25th, Albertans will need two doses of COVID-19 vaccines in order to get into businesses that are using the restriction exemption program wihout a negative COVID-19 test.

Although pressures are starting to ease slightly, it remains important that Albertans do what they can to reduce the spread of the virus.

“In recent days, our ICU’s have dipped below 80 per cent occupancy when we include the surge bed numbers and as of this morning it was at 78 per cent but as noted before this equated to 172 per cent capacity when we don’t include the 201 surge beds that we have created,” said CEO and President of AHS, Verna Yiu.
