Chief Medical Officer of Health made not of a growing number of COVID-19 cases in areas outside of the Calgary and Edmonton zones. She reminded Albertans that COVID-19 is not limited to a certain area but affects every Albertan no matter where we live.

Particularly, cases in Lethbridge and surrounding areas are seeing a growing number of cases.

Some countries in Europe are experiencing a third wave of the virus and Hinshaw hopes to prevent that from happening in Alberta.

“We are so close to having the ability to prevent these consequences with vaccine. I ask all of us not to waste the sacrifices that have been made in this past year by ignoring the public health measures in place that are still very much needed,” said Hinshaw.

She says a third wave will depend on Albertans willingness to follow the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. She continues to ask Albertans to reduce interactions with people that take place indoors.
