Sunny 94 has partnered with Central Alberta Rescue Effort Shelter (C.A.R.E.S) to bring you Pet of the Week! Each Wednesday we feature a new, super friendly, totally adoptable dog or cat. We’ll tell you a bit about them in hopes you’ll go to CARES, meet them, fall in love, and take them home with you!

Poppy

Hello, I’m Poppy!

My name is Poppy and I’m an adult Yorkshire Terrier mixture! I came to CARES as an owner surrender. As you can see, my tongue is sticking out. That’s because when I arrived at the shelter my teeth weren’t so good… luckily a really talented dentist was able to make me more comfortable and now I have just 1 tooth! I’m eating softened kibble right now and eventually my gums will strengthen.

I’m a pretty timid girl who loves to relax on your lap and cuddle! I don’t bark very much so if you live in an apartment your neighbors wouldn’t even know I was there! Since I’m a Yorkie, I have some pretty long fur – it’s important to take me to the groomers regularly and give me lots of baths! I LOVE being outside. I’m a very small dog but the bigger dogs don’t scare me. I like being around other animals as well as humans. I’m very well socialized and more than ready to find my new forever home!

I’m spayed, all caught up on my vaccinations such as rabies and kennel cough, and am recovering from my dental work wonderfully! It would be awesome if you booked an appointment with CARES right away to meet me (and other dogs just like me) and maybe you’ll find your new best friend!
