It was a HUGE weekend for the Big Brothers Big Sisters in both Lacombe and Ponoka! The 2017 Bowl For Kids Sake Fundraisers were a success!

The Bowl For Kids Sake Fundraiser is the single biggest fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters all throughout Central Alberta. The preparation and the stress of trying to plan an event like this is second to the amazing participation from the community! Each year they bring a new, exciting theme with prizes for best team costume, best individual costume, etc.

Morgen from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ponoka as well as Crystal from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lacombe sent Sunny the final results and it looks the money raised came SO close to their goal!

Crystal Zens is the Executive Director for the Lacombe BBBS. They had 2 different campaigns happening at the same time: The Wii Bowling (going to kids schools and bowling there) as well as the main Bowl For Kids Sake at the Lacombe Memorial Centre. The Wii Bowling raised $28,903 and the Bowl For Kids Sake raised $23,861 bringing the grand total to $52,764. Considering their main goal was $60,000 it looks like they did pretty well!

Best "Wild West" Team Costume went to MNP and Boston Pizza!

Mogen Chernick is the Program Director for the Ponoka BBBS. The theme for their Bowl For Kids Sake was “Be Our Guest” so everyone brought their best Disney costumes in hopes of winning prizes! Their end goal for the event was $20,000 – they raised $18,300

Best "Be Our Guest" Team Costume went to Ponoka Elementary School!

At the end of the day, both of these fundraisers were a big success! All the money stays in the community and helps to ensure that every child that needs a mentor, has a mentor. Stay tuned to Sunny 94 to find out what the Big Brothers Big Sisters are up to all around Central Alberta!
