When I was a kid growing up in Leduc in the 70's and early 80's one band that was etched it a lot of kid's minds was KISS. (sorry my computer doesn't have the font to make the cool double-S letters like the band.)

A Fire-Breathing-Demon, A Starman, A Space Ace, and A Cat (ok the cat part I never really got but let's pretend it was cool too.) To a lot of kids these guys were like real life comic book heroes who could also play some pretty awesome music!!

I'm sure if I was to go back to my Leduc Junior High Halloween dance circa 1978, I would bet you that at least half the kids were dressed up as their favourite KISS character. My older brother Ryan was dressed as Paul Stanley (not because he was his favourite, but because it was the easiest one to do the make up for.) I was a ghost, but that was because I couldn't find any high heel KISS boots that fit....

And then word came out that KISS were going to actually be on TV in a movie...I saw the preview for it, called my friends and all agreed we should watch it together...The made-for-TV movie was called "KISS Meets The Phantom Of The Park".

We all gathered around the TV at my friend's house and started watching the movie. To this day I still remember my friend Bruce saying,

"This movie sucks!!!!!!!!!!!"

And I think we all had to agree with him...It wasn't our rock gods' finest moment. In hindsight it should have been called "KISS sells out and even the phantom wouldn't watch this"

But I digress...back to cool KISS.

I have seen the band live three times...Once in Japan and twice in Canada. They are great live....It's one of those shows that you can probably sing along to 90% of the songs, the pyrotechnics are the best in the world and it takes you right back to Leduc 1978 (or where ever you grew up.)

"You wanted the best, you got the best! "

That famous introduction to every KISS show...it still gives me goose bumps when I hear it.

This week we announced KISS live in Edmonton on November 10th, at Roger's Place. Part of their End Of The Road World Tour. Congrats to our Sunny listeners who won some beat the box office tickets. If you want to be a part of the cool kids club, get your tickets here.
