Alberta Open Farm Days is coming up August 19-20.

Farmers and ranchers invite the urban community to come and learn about where their food comes from.

Trail's End Beef, is a grassfed beef ranch in Nanton, and is one of the ranches participating in Open Farm Days.

Rachel Herbert runs the operation with her family and says they have been participating in the event for five years with the goal to connect their communities to the people who raise their food.

"Our philosophy is people should be connected to the people raising their food, so we welcome people to come down and have visits throughout the year, but this is a chance we can concentrate our energy into one day."

In addition to an open tour of the ranch, they will have a market set up where they will sell their home-raised beef by the piece, as well as honey from another local producer, and fermented vegetables.

Trail's End Beef will be open on Saturday, August 19, from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
