Around 5 am Monday morning, emergency crews were called to the Lacombe Co-op after receiving a report of a vehicle on fire in the parking lot.

The newer Jeep Liberty was fully engulfed by the time crews arrived, with exploding tires shooting off sparks in all directions.

Luckily there were no other vehicles parked near it and there were no injuries reported as fire crews arrived on the scene and quickly extinguished the blaze.

According to police who was first on scene, early investigations indicate that the fire may have started inside the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle, a baker at Co-op, was not in the vehicle at the time and had just arrived at work a few minutes prior, and was inside the Co-op when the fire started.

There was nobody seen fleeing from the area at the time of the fire, but the investigation continues.
