As the City of Lacombe’s Light Up the Night approaches, so does the Encore Under $100 Dollar Art Market.

The Art Market will feature artists of all types of mediums from artists that live across Alberta.

“They are all inherently talented I am blown away by the quality of the artwork that we are receiving. We’re receiving artwork from emerging and very, very well-established artists too,” said Maureen MacKenzie, the City of Lacombe’s Community Services Executive Assistant.

Some of the artists participating have decided to donate their artworks and the proceeds of those pieces will be donated directly to the art endowment fund. As for the other artists, 20% of their sales will go towards the Arts Endowment Fund as well.

The Arts Endowment fund helps to support the local arts, and aids in the upkeep of a culturally vibrant community.

As for the art displayed, Mackenzie says that we can expect a huge variety of mediums and options for purchase.

“We’ll probably have 300 paintings of all sorts of different styles. We’ll have pottery. There’s a woodcarver who is doing some really cool carved pieces. Glass bead jewelry person, coppersmith’s person, and silversmiths. There’s really a wide range of art and artisan works all extremely high quality and the best part is they're all under $100,” explained MacKenzie.

Lastly, in addition to the Art Market, the Ecole Lacombe Composite High School student art will still be up for display and for silent auction. The pieces will be sold and delivered to houses encased in ice.

During Light up the Night, people will be able to support their local artists and artisans all for a reasonable price and just in time for Christmas. All pieces sold will be original and one of a kind and all in support of keeping culture thriving within the city.

The Art Market will be held on November 21st from 5 PM to 10 PM and on November 22nd from 10 AM to4 PM in the Lacombe Country Room at the Lacombe Memorial Centre.
