On April 22, 2024, at 8:20 p.m., Rocky Mountain House RCMP received a report of shots being fired at vehicles and residences at the Sportsman Trailer Park in Rocky Mountain House.
Upon arrival, officers located a suspect who before retreating into a home fired a flare gun at officers.
RCMP contained the area, advised local residents to shelter in place and deployed both the Police Dog Service as well as the Emergency Response Team (ERT). Officers as well as ERT negotiators were able to make contact with the suspect and after lengthy negotiations, the event was successfully deescalated, the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody.
A search of the property located pellet and airsoft guns, as well as a flare gun which police believe were used in the offences.
RCMP have charges pending against a Rocky Mountain House resident.
A release with charge information may be completed once charges are sworn.
